Self Esteem for Women in Business: Why It Can Be a Problem
Is self esteem for women Internet entrepreneurs a bigger problem than it is for their male counterparts?
If so, there are some valid reasons for it. I’ll return to that in a minute.
First, if you are a woman, ask yourself:
** Would you do business with someone like you?
** Are you pleased with your marketing accomplishments?
** Are you an independent person?
** Do you like yourself?

If such questions make you feel awkward and embarrassed, you probably are suffering from poor self esteem, and that by definition will have a detrimental effect on your business.
A woman with high self esteem feels good about herself. She doesn’t have to rely on anyone for that.
She is self confident. She knows her strengths and is proud of them well. She also knows her weaknesses, and she works diligently to turn them into strengths.
A woman with low self esteem, however, has a poor self image. In many cases, such women have been overwhelmed since childhood with images of a “woman’s place” in society.
As a woman, she is told she must be forever young, beautiful, slim and sexy. (And, of course, she must know what products to use when she cleans the house.) Even today, in 2009, all you have to do is take a look at television and magazine ads to know that there are still a lot of old-fashioned notions out there about what a woman’s “role” is. Small wonder that so many women are destined to fail in business and in other areas.
And to make matters worse, women also have to deal with sexual, spousal, physical and verbal abuse.
The cumulative effect is that a woman with low self-esteem is essentially powerless.
But it doesn’t have to be like that. There is help available.
Women can choose who they want to be. They can trash all those dead-end cultural images and replace them with something positive and good. They can become who they really are.
And, bottom line for marketers, they can achieve a high level of business and financial success.
The article above only scratches the surface of the problem of online business and self esteem for women. For comprehensive information on what’s available to help women – and men – improve their self-esteem and their business success, please CLICK HERE.
